International scientific meetings on problems of Cyrillo-Methodian studies

The Cyrillo-Methodian Research Centre organizes international scientific events in the sphere of Cyrillo-Methodian studies at which it presents the results of its research activity and succeeds in attracting prestigious specialists from Bulgaria and abroad. The high scientific standard of these meetings strengthens the prestige of the Cyrillo-Methodian Research Centre and ensures the interest of scholars in them.

The following scientific conferences and symposia have been held so far:

  •         1983, Sofia - Symposium "Sources of the Life and Work of SS. Cyril and Methodius";

  •         1984, Rila Monastery - Conference "Description of the Slavonic Manuscript Heritage and the Role of Monasteries in the Cultural      History of the Balkan People";

  •         1985, Sofia - Conference "1100th Anniversary of the Death of St. Methodius";

  •         1990, Etropole - Conference "1080th Anniversary of the Death of St. Naum of Ohrid";

  •         1996, Sofia - Symposium "St. Clement of Ohrid - Life and Work. On the Occasion of the 1080th Anniverary of His Death".

In these scientific meetings, besides Bulgarian specialists, took part distinguished scholars in the field of Cyrillo-Methodian studies from 23 countries ( Australia, Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Great Britain, Germany, Greece, Hungary, India, Italy, Japan, Macedonia, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania,Russia, Spain, Sweden, the USA and Yugoslavia).
